Conversion of UN GTR24 into a UN R

Proposal to amend additive deterioration factors and the PEV run-in requirement and to effect corrections and editorial improvements.

Proposal to harmonise and consolidate the regional procedures and limits, update the provisions to align with Euro 7 requirements, including new particle number (PN10) provisions, a new SHED limit for evaporative emissions, updated On-board Fuel Consumption Monitoring provisions, new annexes with requirements relating to in-vehicle battery durability and a new test for range of Pure Electric Vehicles at low temperatures. Proposal for a new series to align with Euro 7 requirements, including provisions on manipulation devices and manipulation strategies, anti-tampering, security and cyber security, and extended lifetime and In-Service Conformity requirements for in-vehicle battery durability. The Type 2 test has been removed from this new series. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.

Proposal to transpose GTR 24 on laboratory procedures for the measurement of brake particle emissions into a UN Regulation. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.

Proposal for a new UN Regulation for Uniform provisions concerning the approval of light duty passenger and commercial vehicles with regards to On-board monitoring (OBM) systems, environmental vehicle passport (EVP) and in-vehicle display of environmental data. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.

Proposal to align the real-driving emissions provisions with the requirements of Euro 7 and to introduce a “levels” concept. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.

Proposal seeks to remove reference to providing information in the vehicle handbook, so as to maintain current harmonised practices.

Proposal to clarify the obligations of the manufacturer in relation to the provision of information regarding the location and safe use of emergency exits and fire extinguishers

Proposal for withdrawal based on to highlight the broader implications for vehicle design and usability for consumers resulting from this proposal. The lowering of the sideguard and reduction in ramp angle will give reduced flexibility for vehicles and trailer combinations in certain applications (i.e. loading roll-
on, roll-off vessels) and conflict with the road surface and local infrastructure (i.e. grounding out), which will lead to damage or reduced life of sideguards.

Proposal to clarify the definition of bi-directional vehicle.

Proposal to amend to meet the visibility requirements of UN R125, there is a notch in the lower edge of the black band of the front window in some vehicles. This is required to satisfy the requirements of UN-R125, but is considered to be meaningless for driving vision and needs to be corrected.

Proposal to resolve such an inconsistency with UN R125 to harmonize the location of the lower datum point (at 5°) of the angle of obstruction requirement in
paragraph 5.1.3. (at 4°).

Proposal for amendments to working document GRSG/2025/51, This proposal is aimed at allowing the certification for peculiar vehicle architectures (e.g.
high-performance vehicles), where generally the “R” point of the driver seat is not more than 450 mm from ground level. High-performance vehicles have peculiar characteristics. For instance, in order to reduce the aerodynamic drag the frontal surface is reduced. This leads to specific architectural solutions such as thinner and very tilted “A” pillar, smaller field of view, low volume cabin compartment, compared to mass-market vehicles. As a consequence, for high performance vehicles:

Modifications from GRSG-129-01 are taken on board to delete the Unique Identifier (UI) marking provisions.

Proposal to clarify provisions referring to the “vehicle master switch”. After a battery-off (circuit disconnection) event, some vehicle settings may turn to a default setting that is not the last setting. The proposal introduces an exemption applicable to FVA systems in such “system reset” cases.
