This document aims at transposing UN GTR 24 into a new UN Regulation on uniform provisions concerning the approval of non-original and identical replacement brake parts with regards to particle emissions.

Proposal to amend UN R83 by deleting Annex 1, paragraph 3.4.3. and renumbering paragraphs 3.4.3.1., 3.4.3.1.1., 3.4.3.1.2. and 3.4.3.1.3. to read 3.4.3., 3.4.3.1., 3.4.3.2. and 3.4.3.3., and deleting Annex 2, paragraph 1.9.2. The concept of “Operating Mode Switch” has been removed from the Regulation and these two paragraphs were omitted from this removal and should be deleted from both the manufacturer’s information document and the addendum to the approval certificate.

Conversion of UN GTR24 into a UN R

Proposal to harmonise and consolidate the regional procedures and limits, update the provisions to align with Euro 7 requirements, including new particle number (PN10) provisions, a new SHED limit for evaporative emissions, updated On-board Fuel Consumption Monitoring provisions, new annexes with requirements relating to in-vehicle battery durability and a new test for range of Pure Electric Vehicles at low temperatures. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.

Proposal for a new series to align with Euro 7 requirements, including provisions on manipulation devices and manipulation strategies, anti-tampering, security and cyber security, and extended lifetime and In-Service Conformity requirements for in-vehicle battery durability. The Type 2 test has been removed from this new series. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.

Proposal from the Informal Working Group on Automotive Life Cycle Assessment to establish a resolution with recommendations for use by Contracting Parties to the 1958 and 1998 Agreements and others when assessing the CO₂ emissions over the life cycle of motor vehicles.
