| Reference Number: AVSR-31-02 |
|
Draft technical specifications establish mandatory ADS marker lamps on motor vehicles of categories M1–M3, N1–N3, L6, and L7, with front and rear lamps mandatory and side lamps mandatory or optional depending on vehicle length. Front lamps require daytime photometry of 50–300 cd and nighttime 10–125 cd; rear lamps require 20–120 cd daytime and 4–42 cd nighttime. Side lamps vary by type. All lamps are blue-green turquoise, mounted at minimum 250 mm height, and activate automatically only in fully automated mode with manual switching prohibited. |

| ADS amendments consistency check |
| Reference Number: FADS-JC-02 |
|
The document addresses consistency issues across multiple UN Regulations (R26, R28, R29, R34, R35, R39, R43, R45, R46, R48, R49, R134, R135, R137, R138, R141, R142, R143, R144) concerning automated driving systems. It proposes improved wording for fuel leakage provisions, foot control applicability for vehicles of category M1, and speedometer requirements when ADS features are active. The document recommends removing duplicate definitions of ADS, DDT, bi-directional vehicle, and forward direction across regulations. It raises questions regarding application to category Y vehicles, handling of bi-directional traffic equipped vehicles, and whether requirements should apply to vehicle users or only when ADS features are active. |

Cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) enable ITS users to interact and cooperate by exchanging secured and trusted messages without prior knowledge of each other and in a non-discriminatory manner. The EU C-ITS security credential management system has three central roles that the Commission shall be responsible for ensuring are executed. Priority area IV is dedicated to ITS services for Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM). Work on specifications under the ITS Directive will restart in 2026, covering the EU C-ITS security credential management system, harmonised C-ITS services, and fostering development and implementation of C-ITS. Currently, 2.5 million vehicles are sold and 20,000 km of roads are equipped with C-ITS, with 100,000 km covered by C-ITS services across more than 50 European cities in 21 European countries. |

The 20th ADS IWG and 17th GRVA Workshop on ADS convened in Bangkok from April 27 to May 1, 2026. OPIs consolidated draft text for the Guidance and Interpretation document (GID) on ADS, addressing DDT performance, application for approval, user interactions, SMS, ISMR, safety case, and assessment provisions. The GID would be submitted to GRVA in May and WP.29 in June as an informal document, then officially in September and November. Numerous amendment proposals were discussed, including clarifications on crash causation, priority vehicles, road safety agents, MRC requirements, remote assistance, and scenario testing. The next session in Brussels (July 14-17) aims to finalize the GID, with Phase 2 work items to be considered thereafter. |
