Proposal to delete provisions concerning Technical Services (Schedule 2). Germany cannot support the introduction of these provisions because they would conflict with the European Commission proposal of 27 January 2016 to replace Directive 2007/46/EC and tighten EU legislation on the type approval of vehicles, especially with regard to the role of the Technical Services and the related requirements to assess the quality of Technical Services. Germany proposes modifications to the draft text that still envision the introduction of a new Schedule 2 at a later stage while noting that document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1059 would continue to govern Technical Services as a separate document until that time. Proposal to document the status of UN Regulations for Contracting Parties accepting an International Whole Vehicle Type Approval of limited recognition (Germany)

The International Whole Vehicle Type Approval system under development would allow for a limited recognition approval to earlier versions of UN Regulations. Since this limited IWVTA requires Contracting Parties to declare to which version of each regulation they adhere, this proposal would amend the "Status of the 1958 Agreement" (document WP.29/343) to include this information as part of the regular process of reporting on the status of UN Regulations.
