13. Direction of Future Work of GRE

35. The Chair of the Task Force on Autonomous Vehicle Signalling Requirements (TF AVSR) presented their progress report (GRE-91-13) and briefly introduced a revised amendment proposal for UN Regulation No. 48 to cater for automated driving systems (ADS) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2023/9/Rev.3). He pointed out that, in view of the recent comments (GRE-91-10), TF AVSR would update the proposal for the next session. He also mentioned draft amendments to UN Regulation No. 45 to make it suitable for ADS vehicles (GRE-91-11) which would be submitted as a working document to the next session.

36. GRE noted that the finalization of the above amendment proposal for UN Regulation No. 48 would require the inclusion of new subcategories of ADS vehicles in the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3.). GRE was informed about the status of this work under the Working Parties on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) and on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (GRVA).

37. The expert from TF AVSR presented the first draft technical specifications for ADS marker lamps (GRE-91-12). The expert from Japan reported on the results of two experiments to evaluate the perception of ADS marker lamps with two different layouts (GRE-91-16). GRE supported the work of TF AVSR on ADS marker lamps and agreed to come back to this issue at the next session.

38. Based on the discussions at the session, the Chair presented a revised list of priorities and subjects under consideration (GRE-91-21-Rev.2). GRE approved the list and requested the Chair to forward it to WP.29 for endorsement.
