Proposal from the TPMSTI task force to update draft provisions for performance testing of Tyre Pressure Monitoring System/Tyre Pressure Refill System/Central Tyre Inflation System and for an alternative procedure for type approval of subject trailer(s).

The Task Force on Vehicles’ Sound (TF-VS) was established to review sound emissions regulations for M, N, and L category vehicles under UN Regulations 51, 9, 28, 41, 59, 63, 92, 117, and 138. The TF-VS will identify available studies, analyze data including Phase 3, review interactions between vehicle sound emissions and environmental noise, and propose improvements. THe group is chaired by France with OICA as Secretary and will focus initially on M and N vehicles.

Proposal to introduce an alternative procedure for type approval of trailers (vehicles of categories O3 and O4) regarding their Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Tyre Pressure Refilling System (TPRS) and Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS).

Text, all tables and figures in this proposal have been prepared by the experts of the Task Force on Reverse Warning Sound (TF RWS) with the aim to draft a new UN Regulation concerning the approval of audible reverse warning devices and of motor vehicles with regard to their audible reverse warning signals.

Proposal to remove an inconsistency in the marking provisions and extend production of the “regroovable” symbol or word “REGROOVABLE” beyond moudling (i.e., enable use of other technologies) for tyres that can be regrooved and to consolidate the calculation of reference dimensions with that provided in GTR 16 to allow measuring tyres with size designations listed in Annex 5 on rims whose width code differs from the measuring rim width code listed in the tables of Annex 5.

Proposal to align the definitions of “diagonal” or “bias-ply” and “bias belted” tyre structures to the definitions given in UNvR30 and R75, to improve the text with regard to description of the composition of the size designation for metric tyres, and to resolve an apparent contradiction regarding the prefixes IF and VF.
