Proposal from the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO) in order to add new tyres for light commercial vehicles (high flotation tyres) in Annex 5 of UN Regulation No. 54.

Proposal to insert language into the definition of a vehicle type clarifying the application (or non-application) of regulations included in the IWVTA across variants of a single type-approved vehicle in order to avoid scenarios where a single vehicle type could have more than one type approval or an approval under a non-applicable regulation (say, electrified vehicle requirements for a non-electrified variant of a vehicle type) could be demanded for a vehicle variant.

European countries are considering new requirements to require the fitment of snow tyres for use in severe snow conditions on specific axles of heavy duty vehicles. New tyres are approved under UN R117; however, a large percentage of heavy duty vehicles are fitted with retreaded tyres which are outside the scope of UN R117. This proposal would transpose the relevant requirements for new snow tyres into UN R109 in order of avoid the exclusion of retreaded tyres from such applications/markets.

Proposal to permit the “LT” marking as a prefix or suffix to align the requirements with the current practice for C2 tyres with metric size designation. The proposed text for a prefix is in line with the latest draft of the gtr on tyres. The proposed text for a suffix is necessary for tyres designed to Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association (JATMA) standards.

Proposal to restore transitional provisions incorrectly deleted by Supplement 6 to the 02 series of amendments.

Proposal to separate provisions for tire-pressure monitoring systems from UN R64.

Proposed text for a new UN Regulation that would comprise all the tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) provisions presently contained in UN Regulation No. 64. This separation is proposed to facilitate the use of UN R64 in the international whole vehicle type approval system under development.

Pursuant to the addition of a new speed symbol for forestry tyres, this proposal would add a bonus loads column for A6-rated tyres to Annex 7-Part D.

Proposal for provisions concerning a “Declaration of Conformance” for vehicles approved under the International Whole Vehicle Type Approval regulation.

Proposal as approved by the GRRF to include ATV tires in the motorcycle and moped tire regulation in order to enable the type approval of tires designed to equip quadricycles covered by the new Regulation (EU) No. 168/2013 of 15 January 2013 on the approval and market surveillance of two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles (L category vehicles). These tires may also equip some agricultural tractors (SbS vehicles) covered by the new EU Regulation.

Text as approved by the GRRF to transfer All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) tires from UN Regulation 106 on agricultural tires to UN Regulation No. 75 on motorcycle tires. (This proposal is associated with the proposal to regulate ATV tires under UN R75. See document WP.29/2015/8.)

Proposal as approved by the GRB to introduce a “Deceleration Calculator” (dω/dt) for use in the UN R117 test procedures. This procedure was developed by Russia and validated by an ad hoc group (including NAMI, UTAC, and ETRTO). This proposal also includes clarifications concerning snow tire markings approved by the GRRF during its 78th session.
