Proposal from the Simplification of Lighting Regulations informal group to introduce transitional provisions for the phasing out of the existing Regulations on lighting and light-signalling in conjunction with the introduction of three new simplified Regulations on Light-Signalling Devices (LSD), Road Illumination Devices (RID) and Retro-Reflective Devices (RRD).

Proposal to a) improve the transitional provisions presented in GRE/2018/11 with regard to the collective
amendments to Regulations Nos. 3, 4, 6, 7, 19, 23, 27, 38, 50, 69, 70, 77, 87, 91, 98, 104, 112, 113, 119 and 123 and b) introduce new requirements into the 06 series of amendments to UN R48 with regard to the validity and installation of type approved lighting and light-signalling devices.

Proposal from GRE to introduce transitional provisions for the phasing out of UN R27 in conjunction with the introduction of the new UN Regulation on Retro-Reflecting Devices (RRD).

SLR informal group removing the brackets around (i.e., confirming) the 24-month transition period for the switch to approvals only under the new LSD, RRD, and RID regulations and to delete the proposal that approvals and extensions of approvals granted under each regulation would remain valid indefinitely.

Request to GRE and the SLR informal group to give consideration to transitional provisions.

Proposed transitional provisions to end further development of current UN lighting regulations in favor of the new UN Regulations on light-signalling devices (LSD), road illumination devices (RID), and retro-reflecting devices (RRD) developed under the Simplification of Lighting Regulations (SLR) program.
