Proposal for a new UN Regulation on Road Illumination Devices (RID) to supersede UN Regulations Nos. 19, 98, 112 (thus 1, 8, and 20), 113 (thus 56, 57, 72, 76, and 82), 119, and 123.

Proposal to specify the use of UN R48 definitions unless otherwise specified in the current regulation or in lighting installation regulations for other vehicles categories (i.e., in UN R53, R74, or R86) and to otherwise clarify the text in Annex 2.

Proposal from the Simplification of Lighting Regulations informal group to delete the luminous intensities minimum requirements for the measuring point 50L (which are not in UN R112 and therefore should not be in UN R149) from Table 8 and to correct a typo in the angular position for S100RR in Table 13. Given its urgency, the proposal has been submitted in parallel for GRE consideration (GRE-82-02).

Proposal to reintroduce the run-up provisions for high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps that were unintentionally omitted from the original text of UN R149.

5. Correct the omission of the UN R123 provision for detection of failure of a light source and/or a LED module in an Adaptive Front Lighting System
6. Correct Annex 4, Figure A4-IX of UN R149 where the description of the zone 1 is not in line with the photometric requirements set in paragraph 5.4.4.2. Table 34 which defines the horizontal angles to 5° to the left and 5° to the right for the class BS headlamps

Proposal from GRE to insert a new paragraph 3.2.5. corresponding to paragraph 4.4. in UN R119 which was unintentionally omitted from the original text of UN R149.

Proposal aim to allow driver assistance projections on the road ahead of the vehicle as part of the Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB), to allow the installation of Adaptive Driving Beams (ADB) on vehicles of category L₃, and otherwise to comprehensively clarify and update the text.

Proposal from GRE to permit AFS passing-beam headlamps to project driver assistance symbols and patterns and to add Driver Assistance Projections to the communication form in Annex 1 to improve transparency over whether a headlamp includes this capability.

Proposal to remove the failure mode and light source failure detection requirements for the cornering lamp, to modify the photometric stability test point of the passing beam and adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) Class C, and to correct and clarify the text of the 01 series of amendments.

Proposal to clarify the measurement of the quality of the “cut-off” and to clarify the approval markings under the 00 and 01 series (e.g., use of “HCR” or “HR and C”).

• Correct the Conformity of Production tables
• Amend failure detection and signalisation requirements to reflect technological progress in multiple light sources.

Proposal to rectify an inconsistency between UN R149 and UN R98, 112 and 123 by aligning the measurement points for the mechanical deterioration test. The deletion of measuring point HV for the passing-beam headlamps does not change any technical requirement since there are no photometric values specified for point HV in the UN R149.
