Presentation to review the draft regulation that would enable the international type approval of whole vehicles.

This document reports on the review by the GR of the regulations under consideration for inclusion in the international whole vehicle type approval system. The aim is to establish IWVTA based upon a first set of regulations easily transposed to the whole vehicle system. A second phase would address regulations requiring significant revision to reach consensus.

This proposal concerns documents SGR0-02-04-Rev.4 and IWVTA-SGR0-08-08, paragraph 13.4. Both documents contain provisions whereby Contracting Parties accepting approvals to earlier versions of individual regulations or accepting the absence of such approvals shall notify the UN secretariat. This proposal clarifies that this obligation applies both to parties using the Limited IWVTA (i.e., approvals to lower stringency levels) and the Universal IWVTA (i.e., approvals to the latest versions of each regulation).
