129. Also following a preliminary discussion in WP.29 (see section V.D.4), AC.3 agreed to add the topic of the possible development of a UN GTR on helmets (covering the needs of adults and children) to the November session of AC.3 under agenda item 18.

128. AC.3 discussed the idea of initiating work on a new UN GTR for child restraint systems (“ISOFIX 3.0”), following a preliminary discussion in WP.29 (see section V.D.4). The representative from Netherlands (Kingdom of the) confirmed that he would make a presentation on the topic in the next AC.3 session and expressed his interest in starting work in 2026, given the importance of the topic. The representative of OICA suggested that recent developments meant that there was already a high degree of harmonisation and cautioned of potential disadvantages of a new standard. The representatives of Sweden, United States and Canada acknowledged the importance of the topic and supported the idea of continuing the discussion at the next session on the basis of a presentation by Netherlands (Kingdom of the) but recalled the need to balance the current high workload of GRSP. The representative of Spain explained how the current situation still led to many cases of misuse of child restraint systems. AC.3 agreed to add the topic to the November session of AC.3 under agenda item 18.
