2. Amendments to regulations on buses and coaches

The Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) is expected to be informed by the Chair of the Informal Working Group (IWG) about the outcome of the most recent meetings on the behaviour of the general construction of M2 and M3 vehicles in a fire event (BMFE).

2. (a) UN Regulation No. 107 (M2 and M3 vehicles)

GRSG may wish to be informed by GRSP on the outcome of recent meetings of IWG on “Securing of Children in buses and coaches” developping a UN Regulation under the 1958 Agreement.

GRSG may also wish to consider a proposal by IWG on BMFE (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2020/19 based on GRSG-118-02) to amend the provisions of UN Regulation No. 107.

GRSG agreed to resume consideration of a request by Spain (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2020/20 based on ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2020/2 as amended by GRSG-118-03 and GRSG-118-30) on a proposal for an amendment to UN Regulation No. 107 aiming at prevention of movements of vehicles of categories M2 and M3 whilst their lifts or ramps were used.

3. Amendments to safety glazing regulations

GRSG will be informed by the Chair of IWG on Panoramic Sunroof Glazing (PSG) about the work progress on safety glazing with respect to new provisions on “ceramic printed areas”. GRSG may wish to consider an IWG proposal on a draft Mutual Resolution No. [4].

GRSG/2020/3 | MR4: 1958 and 1998 Agreements concerning Panoramic Sunroof Glazing (PSG) The IWG on PSG proposes the text of Mutual Resolution 4. GRSG agreed to resume considerations on a proposal by OICA (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2020/24 based on GRSG-117-31/Rev.1) to amend the definition of keys that take account of innovative vehicle alarm systems, such as silent alarm or door-unlocking using smart phone, if available. GRSG may wish to be informed on the outcome of the work by the task force on the definition of keys.

GRSG agreed to resume considerations on a proposal by Egypt for amendments to the Consolidated Resolution on the construction of vehicles (R.E.3) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2020/14).

GRSG agreed to resume considerations on a proposal by IMMA for amendments to the Consolidated Resolution on the construction of vehicles (R.E.3) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2020/33 based on GRSG-118-11).

GRSG-118-11 | RE3: Proposal for amendments The objective of this proposal is to differentiate bodied quadricycles from the wide variety of vehicles of category L7 covered by the definition in paragraph 2.1.7. of the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3) with a view to enhancing the passive safety of bodied heavy quadricycles for the transport of passengers.

GRSG may wish to consider a suggestion for an amendment to UN R39 regarding odometer displays.

GRSG-119-12 | UN R39: Suggestion for an amendment UN R39 allows for odometer units in miles. This proposal would clarify requirements for systems that can switch the odometer units between kilometers and miles to ensure that only one unit of measurement for total distance is used at a time.

GRSG may wish to receive an update from the Secretariat on the UNECE Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Roadmap.
