Q&A informational document on the new version of the 1958 Agreement, prepared by the informal working group on IWVTA.

Taking account of the objectives of the Decade of Action for Road Safety and the Sustainable Development Goal 3.6 on road safety, the UNECE secretariat together with the UNSG’s Envoy for Road Safety worked on consultations on possible industry self-commitment on minimum safety.

Proposal for improving the efficiency of WP.29 sessions through the designation of agenda items as “A-points”. A-points would be recommended for approval as a block. This would not change the voting procedure, but would reduce the time devoted to considering proposals during the session prior to the vote. Items considered as A points might fulfill attributes such as:

1. the proposal does not establish a new Regulation;
2. the amendment does not create the starting point of a new series of amendments;
3. there was no dissent during discussions at GR level;
4. the amendment does not contain substantial elements;
5. the amendment is a series of parallel amendments within a Regulation (e.g. different series of amendments);
6. the amendment is a series of parallel amendments to a number of Regulations (e.g. introducing the term REESS).
