Proposal to clarify the requirements for CRS utilizing the seat belt lap strap in order to ensure correct installation and testing and to avoid possibly dangerous misinterpretation to the test configuration.
24. The expert from the Netherlands gave a presentation (GRSP-62-39) to introduce ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2017/39 on preventing a lie of belt that could lead to injuries to children using non-integral CRS. The expert from CLEPA agreed in principle with the proposal but requested further clarification. Therefore, the expert from the Netherlands introduced GRSP-62-33-Rev.1. Finally, GRSP agreed to resume discussion at its May 2018 session and requested the secretariat to distribute GRSP-62-33-Rev.1 with an official symbol.
29. The expert from the Netherlands introduced GRSP-61-14-Rev.1 superseding ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2017/13 aimed at excluding dangerous interpretations on the installation of CRS and introducing amendments proposed by the expert from CLEPA (GRSP-61-32). GRSP adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2017/13 as amended by Annex V to this report. The secretariat was requested to submit the proposal for consideration and vote to the November 2017 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as part (see para. 28 above) of draft Supplement 13 to the 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 44.
27. The expert from the Netherlands introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2016/14 aimed at excluding dangerous interpretations on the installation of CRS and proposing an angle limit for the lap belts of minimum of 10°. The expert from Japan raised a reservation to the proposed value. The expert from the Netherlands also introduced GRSP-60-15 (superseding ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2016/18) and gave a presentation (GRSP-60-19) to avoid diverging interpretation of the Regulation. GRSP agreed to resume discussion on this subject at its May 2017 session and requested the secretariat to distribute GRSP-60-15 with an official symbol at its May 2017 session.
34. The expert from the Netherlands introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2016/14, aimed at excluding different interpretations on the installations of CRS in UN Regulation No. 44. The expert from France, chairing the IWG on ECRS, reminded GRSP that IWG ECRS had dealt with this topic in working paper CRS-56-05. The Chair invited GRSP experts to further study ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2016/14 and working paper CRS-56-05 and agreed to resume discussion on this subject at its December 2016 session.
