Proposal to amend requirements for the minimum number of priority seats (four in Class I, two in Class II and Class III and one in Class A and Class B), to disallow the priority designation for folding seats, and to establish uniform provisions for gangway barriers in vehicles of Classes I and A, including a proposed 50N force limit for moving such barriers out of the way.

Proposal to clarify paragraph 7.7.5.1. with regard to ceiling-mounted displays or monitors and simplify the testing procedure:

  • The gauge shall be used only for the identification of the monitors to be tested.
  • The simplified way to apply the removal force corresponds to a passenger pushing the monitor/display with its hand, and in these conditions the acceptable force limit is adapted.
  • The test must be conducted in both directions.
  • The proposed wording for the last condition to fulfil is more technology neutral, the case of automatic redeployment is also considered and banned.

The proposal would also redefine the measurement criteria for determining appropriate seat spacing, including the use of a new testing gauge for the H dimension measurement.

Proposal to introduce requirements a) to prevent accidents when the flap covering the engine compartment is open; b) to clarify that “low-floor vehicles” concern only those vehicles that provide a single step from the ground into the low floor area and that any equipment that would counteract the intention of such single-step low-floor vehicles to facilitate access by passengers with reduced mobility is prohibited; c) to delete the prohibition on the use of laminated glass or plastic material in window panes and to delete the provision that emergency windows shall be capable of being operated from outside; d) to clarify the transitional provisions.

UN R107 includes a provision to prevent a folding seat used by the crew from obstructing the view of the exterior rear-view mirror. In light of the proposed amendment to introduce camera-monitor systems into UN R46 (indirect vision), this proposal would extend the same treatment to CMS used in the place of rear view mirrors.

  • limit the mandatory application of the requirements for dedicated areas for prams and pushchairs to Class I vehicles;
  • require activation of the alarm and fire suppression systems as soon as the heater is in function regardless of whether the engine is operating;
  • extend requirements for exposed seats adjacent to step wells to apply to other exposed seats where there is a risk of the occupant being thrown forward; and
  • correct the text of the Regulation.

06 series of amendments | Supplement 3 Based upon the adopted proposal: WP.29/2015/44

Proposal as approved by the GRSG to align Annex 11 of UN R107 with Regulation (EU) 1230/2012. Annex 11 was originally based on EU Directive 97/27 EC (type approval of vehicles with regard to their masses and dimensions) which has now been replaced by Regulation (EU) 1230/2012, thus prompting the need for realignment.
