Proposal to: - Replace ‘seat belt’ with ‘safety-belt’ throughout the regulation,
- Insert new definitions for adult safety-belt, battery, pre-loading device, primary means of restraint, small infant support, supplemental restraint system, and user inflatable elements,
- Amend marking and labelling requirements for enhanced child restraint systems and inserts,
- Add provisions for supplemental restraint systems including deployment conditions and fail-safe procedures,
- Establish requirements for batteries including removability and low battery voltage reminders,
- Add provisions for loss of vehicle battery connection warnings,
- Clarify insert and small infant support requirements and marking arrangements,
- Update dynamic testing procedures for supplemental restraint systems,
- Establish transitional provisions with entry into force on 1 September 2029 and 1 September 2030.
