Electric Vehicles and the Environment: Agenda for the 97th (May 2026) session

Proposal to define service life values by region or country of usage, establish methodology for calculating realistic GHG emissions and energy consumption during vehicle use stage at various detail levels, determine discrepancy factors based on real-world performance data, apply deterioration factors to account for vehicle aging effects, quantify leakage emissions including hydrogen and methane, assess maintenance and consumables impacts through manufacturer-provided frequency data or alternative methodologies, and collect primary and secondary data on driving activity, vehicle lifetime, fuel consumption, and maintenance replacement intervals. Service life values for passenger cars shall align with average age of vehicles at point of recycling within the same country, with regional default values provided in Annex 1 to the Resolution.

EqOP-Restraints: Agenda for the 5th (June 2026) session

The draft agenda for the 5th meeting of Task Force 4 Frontal Impact & Restraint System Requirements is scheduled for June 25, 2026, online from 12.00 to 14.00 CET. EqOP-Restraints: Minutes of the 4th (April 2026) session

The EqOP-TF4 held its 4th meeting on 14 April 2026 with 28 participants. BASt presented an updated GIDAS analysis of abdominal injuries in belted occupants with single major impacts. The Swedish Transport Agency presented an updated study on occupant abdominal trauma including pelvic fractures and injury severity by age and seatbelt effects. OICA presented French collision data from 2012 to 2024 showing rear seats are significantly less utilized and the front row represents 96% of fatalities and most serious injuries in M1 passenger cars. The Chair and secretary will compile input on priorities. The next meeting is scheduled for 25 June 2026, with an in-person workshop planned for 4–6 November 2026 in Japan.

RD-ASEP informal group draft status report to GRBP
Reference Number: RDASEP-Edit-05-03

The IWG RD-ASEP informal group is developing a mandatory procedure for UN R51 after the monitoring phase. The Analysis Task Force determined vehicle databases and expectation models are suitable for RD-ASEP development. The Editing Task Force created a consolidated R51.04 draft submitted to GRBP-84. The revised R51.04 RD-ASEP includes manipulation and defeat device provisions, mandatory random testing for approval, revised control range, any acceleration position testing, vehicle speed range 0-100 km/hr, and vehicle performance criteria. A revised companion document GRB-68-03 is necessary.
