8 Mar Pedal Misapplication in Korea: Case Analysis and Future Roadmap (KATRI) ACPE-GTR-02-08 2026-03-08 KATRI
8 May ACPE: Korea activities update (KATRI) ACPE-GTR-03-05 2026-05-08 The Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute presents two planned ACPE GTR studies. Study #1 on normal pedal operation speed range is in pre-R&D phase with data collection ongoing from elderly drivers; results will not be presented in 2026 due to required data processing and insufficient time for statistically meaningful analysis. Study #2 analyzes pedal misoperation speed using 10 Hz EDR data from nine real-world crash cases where manufacturers concluded no vehicle defects. Analysis is in progress with results to be shared at subsequent meetings as additional cases are confirmed. KATRI
26 Feb CLIV: Summary of feedback on the draft text of the new UN Regulation (KATRI) CLIV-14-08 2026-02-26 KATRI
28 Apr CLIV: Feedback on 131st GRSG session (KATRI) CLIV-16-02 2026-04-28 KATRI reported on the 131st GRSG session. OICA raised concern that the scope of the draft regulation is not clear, noting that vehicles of categories M2 or M3 class B and III designed or equipped primarily for the carriage of children equals all of M2 or M3 vehicles since there is always a possibility of carrying children, and stated it is now checking TF STBC documents. CIVD stated that vehicles used for camping need to be exempted from scope, noting this is reasonable but questioning how. Denso asked whether warning method of visual and audible is different between buses and light vehicles, noting this is done, and stated it seems possible to add new regulation number in UN R48. KATRI
13 Feb Discussion items on Emergency Door Opening (Crash regulations) (KATRI) EDO-04-05 2026-02-13 KATRI
14 Apr Comments for Emergency Door Opening discussions (KATRI) EDO-05-08 2026-04-14 Comments address proposals EDO-05-03e and EDO-05-04e. On intuitiveness, the definition was agreed upon but concerns remain regarding ambiguity under self-certification system. Specific examples may be included such as door handle with gripping space, and mark/label/symbol on latch control. On power loss test, overall test procedures were agreed upon. Clarifications needed include normal riding position in 2.2.3., and whether interior test testers proceed with opening procedure after 60 minutes for all doors with 4 times repetition per door within 60 minutes proposed. 14 Apr Direction Indicator Lamp Height Issue (KATRI) SLR-77-13 2026-04-14 This document addresses rear direction-indicator lamps mounted at low positions on vehicles. Republic of Korea reports increased public petitions and media articles regarding visibility and recognition concerns, particularly in congested traffic and for vehicles with higher driver seating positions like SUVs. UN Regulation No. 48 specifies direction-indicator lamp height requirements: not less than 350 mm and not more than 1,500 mm, or up to 2,100 mm under certain structural conditions. The presentation seeks feedback on similar issues from other countries and manufacturers. KATRI
