This Supplement proposes to update UN R154 to accommodate vehicles fitted with Automated Driving Systems (ADS), specifically categories X and Y. Amendments include new definitions for ADS-related terms, modifications to testing procedures, and updated references to vehicle construction standards. Driver-related systems are renamed to account for vehicles without human drivers. Special provisions establish requirements for ADS road load determination and testing modes, while messaging systems are adapted to send signals to ADS instead of or in addition to driver notifications. |
