32. The GRBP chair reported on the results achieved by GRBP at its eighty-second session (for details, see the report of the session ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRBP/80).
33. The GRBP chair informed WP.29 about the ongoing work on the introduction of electric vehicles in the scope of the Annex to UN Regulation No. 51 on Additional Sound Emission Provisions (ASEP).
34. The GRBP chair pointed out that GRBP discussed in depth a draft new UN Regulation on tyre abrasion which included both ‘indoor drum’ and ‘on-road vehicle’ test methods. GRBP noted that a low level of correlation between the methods had been observed from the market assessment data, with much better results from the dedicated correlation-validation testing campaign. Several experts expressed the view that the drum method was not yet ready for adoption, given a low reproducibility of results in different laboratories and the need for further validation. Some other experts were in favour of including both methods in the new Regulation from the beginning. In the absence of consensus, GRBP agreed to finalize the amendment package at the next meeting.
35. The GRBP chair sought the WP.29 consent to extend the mandate of the Informal Working Group on Wet Grip Performance of Tyres in Worn State (IWG WGWT) for one year until December 2028. WP.29 agreed on this extension.
36. WP.29 noted that GRBP had re-elected by acclamation Mr. S. Ficheux (France) as Chair and Mr. B. Schüttler (Germany) as Vice-Chair for the year 2026.
