UN R79: Proposal for amendments to GRVA/2020/22

Proposal to modify the following elements:

  1. paragraph, delete “temporarily”
  2. paragraph, replace “actually” by “anticipated to be”
  3. paragraph, B1 shall resume “in a timely manner”
  4. paragraph, clarify the suppression criteria
  5. paragraph, define distance tolerances for lane-change critical distances
  6. Annex 8, Paragraph 2., Carry over the language already adopted for ACSF B1: “At the manufacturer’s discretion and with the agreement of the Technical Service, a lane with a width of less than 3.5 m may be used, if the correct function of the system on roads with wider lanes can be demonstrated.” and allow for lower temperature and wet surface test conditions, and
  7. Annex 8, Paragraph (j), amend the pass condition with regard to direction indicator deactivation.

6. (a) | Automatically Commanded Steering Function

49. The expert from OICA introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2021/9 as amended by GRVA-09-30. She announced that the amendment to the tolerance in square bracket was withdrawn. GRVA adopted the proposal (without the amendment to the tolerance in para. and requested the secretariat to submit it to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration and vote at their June 2021 sessions.

6. (a) | Automatically Commanded Steering Function

39. The expert from OICA introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2020/22, amended by GRVA-07-20 with proposed amendments to the provisions on ACSF of Category C. He explained that GRVA-07-20 also incorporated GRVA-07-15, GRVA-07-16 and GRVA-07-19. He withdrew GRVA-07-18. The expert from AVERE supported the OICA proposal. GRVA-07-29 superseded by GRVA-07-32. GRVA had remained divided on such amendments since its fourth session.
