Proposal to amend UN R161 to introduce Supplement 6. This document amends and supersedes ECE/TRANS/GRSG/2026/13. The amendment extends application to vehicles of category X and Y without a driver and without manual driving controls equipped with an automated Driving System. New paragraphs define ADS feature of type 1 and type 2. Paragraph 2.5. is amended to specify device to prevent unauthorized use requirements. Paragraph 4.3.2. is amended to exclude requirements during remote-control manoeuvring and remote-control parking as defined in UN R79, for vehicles of categories X and Y, or when an ADSF-2 is activated by an authorized registered digital key.

UN R162: Proposal for a Supplement 6

Proposal to amend UN R162 to introduce Supplement 6 to the original version. Supplement 6 addresses vehicles of category X and Y, as well as vehicles with manual mode operating above 6 km/h equipped with an Automated driving System. New definitions for ADS feature of type 1 and type 2 are introduced. Amendments specify immobilizer setting procedures and provide exemptions during remote-control manoeuvring, remote-control parking as defined in UN R79, for vehicles of categories X and Y, and when an ADSF-2 is activated by an authorized registered digital key. UN R125: Proposal for Supplement 1 to the 03 series of amendments

Proposal for Supplement 1 to the 03 series of amendments to UN R125 (Forward Field of Vision). The supplement addresses vehicles of categories X and Y and vehicles equipped with an Automated Driving System. Vehicles of category Y are exempt from the Regulation’s scope. Vehicles of category X with manual driving modes have different requirements depending on operation type: remote control exempts from scope; seated operation applies general provisions; non-seated operation applies alternative provisions. Alternative requirements may be approved if manufacturer demonstrates equivalent safety level. New definitions include “Safety Concept.” References to UN R176 Field of Vision Assistant added.

UN R163: Proposal for a Supplement 4

Proposal to amend UN R163 by introducing supplement 4 to extend application to vehicles of categories X and Y, and vehicles with manual mode operating above 6 km/h equipped with an Automated Driving System. The amendment intends to keep the spirit of the Regulation while extending application to vehicles without a driver and without manual driving controls. In case of vehicles equipped with an ADS, no special provisions or exemptions apply. The document is intended to amend and supersede ECE/TRANS/GRSG/2026/15.

UN R122: Proposal for the 01 series of amendments
Reference Number: GRSG-131-32

Proposal to amend UN R122 to introduce the 01 series of amendments. The amendments account for vehicles of categories X and Y, align provisions in Annex 5 for all occupants, and update the Regulation for fitness for Automated Driving System. Modifications include new introduction paragraphs addressing surface temperature allowances for drivers and passengers regardless of seating position or vehicle category, with special consideration for rear seats of M₁ vehicles. Surface temperature limits are set at 70°C for uncoated metal or 80°C for other materials. Transitional provisions are established, with mandatory acceptance of 01 series amendments from the official entry into force date and continued acceptance of preceding series approvals until 1 September 2028.

UN R121: Proposal for Supplement to the 01 series of amendments

UN R102: Proposal for Supplement 1 to the original version

Proposal for Supplement 1 to UN R102 to amend provisions for vehicles of categories X and Y and vehicles with an Automated Driving System operating at speeds above 6 km/h. Amendments add logic signal transmission to the ADS indicating power system/control system failures, correct engagement of positive locking systems, and maximum extension of hydraulic or pneumatic close-coupling devices. Testing provisions are modified for ADS-equipped vehicles, including steering equipment actuation at maximum performance allowed by the ADS.

117. The World Forum agreed that agenda items 5.2 to 5.5 should be considered in detail by the Executive Committee of the 1998 Agreement (AC.3).

149. AC.3 noted the information, as of 26 February 2019, on the status of the Agreement of the Global Registry and of the Compendium of Candidates (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1073/Rev.24), the status of the priorities of the 1998 Agreement (based on WP.29-177-02 as reproduced in Annex IV to this report) and items on which the exchange of views should continue. AC.3 noted that notifications and the mandatory reports on the transposition process through their Permanent Missions in Geneva to the secretariat, are publicly accessible at: https://wiki.unece.org/display/TRAN/Home. AC.3 recalled its agreement to always send the above-mentioned reports and notifications through their Permanent Missions in Geneva and directly to the secretariat (email: edoardo.gianotti@un.org) to ensure updating of the status document, which is the monitoring tool of the agreement. AC.3 reiterated its request to its representatives to provide the secretariat with the coordinates of their corresponding focal points to the agreement, appointed in their capitals to draft the reports and notifications to keep them informed in the exchange of information through the above-mentioned website.
