45. The expert from the Republic of Korea informed GRSP about the recent rule-making result for the implementation (GRSP-62-38) of safety-belt reminders and FlexPLI provisions in the legislation of the Republic of Korea.

Korea Motor Vehicle Safety Standards: Seat belt reminder and FlexPLI
On 14 November 2017, Korea introduced rear seat-belt reminder requirements into the KMVSS aligned with the 07 series of amendments to UN R16. The requirements become mandatory from 1 September 2019. At the same time, Korea also adopted the FlexPLI test tool for pedestrian protection testing aligned with the draft Amendment 2 to GTR No. 9. Compliance testing with the FlexPLI will start from 1 January 2018 (given that the FlexPLI has been in use under Korea NCAP since 2015).
