Based on WP.29/2025/103 as adopted during the 197th WP.29 session (10-14
Nov 2025).
Proposal to:
- Improve the positioning of pure Class I monitors for drivers with presbyopia (difficulty in clearly seeing close objects)
- Introduce installation requirements for surveillance mirrors and surveillance camera-monitor-recording devices
- Allow for single approval number for devices with more than one field-of-view
- Refine obstruction provisions
- Introduce provisions for rounding of magnification factors
- Introduce a new definition for “Surveillance camera-monitor-recording device”
- Clarification of the “external original surface” concept
- Clarification that the radius of curvature is not be mandatory on the back of Class I mirrors
- Allow greater flexibility in conducting the pendulum testing
- Clarify the “operation readiness” with respect to partially folded camera wings
- Allow for alternatives to the test defined in annex 7 for evaluating the radius of curvature on the reflecting surface if needed
- Correct certain errors.
