Based on WP.29/2026/37 as adopted during the 198th WP.29 session (9-13
Mar).
Proposal to establish requirements for the type approval of on-board monitoring (OBM) systems that:
- detect vehicle exhaust emissions exceeding prescribed limits,
- monitor propulsion battery storage capacity and health,
- warn drivers as warranted, and
- communicate such information off-board.
The provisions include specifications for an “environmental vehicle passport (
EVP)” to be issued by the vehicle manufacturer, for the format, data, and off-board communication methods for the
EVP and for the in-vehicle display of environmental performance data. The provisions also address manipulation devices and strategies. Japan abstained from the vote to adopt.
