Proposal to establish a new Mutual Resolution No. 5 (M.R.5) concerning Automotive Life Cycle Assessment (A-LCA) to provide an internationally harmonised methodology for determining carbon footprint of light-duty vehicles across all life cycle stages—material production, parts production and vehicle assembly, use, and end-of-life—using a level concept that distinguishes four levels of detail based on data availability and study purpose, applicable to different powertrain types and energy pathways, with provisions for energy modelling, recycling methodology, discrepancy and deterioration factors, maintenance assessment, and third-party verification requirements for Levels 3 and 4.
The agenda includes review of electricity/energy modeling, OVC-HEV/FCV, and battery/power train replacement.
The session agenda includes discussion of the current draft UN Regulation for buses and coaches including homework feedback, feedback on the proposal in GRE from the South Korea delegate, preparation for the 1–5 June 2026 GRSP meeting, and any other business.

EDR/DSSAD-31-02 on DSSAD regulatory text would be submitted to GRVA in May. A Guidance and Interpretation Document addressing “readily accessible” and access provisions is planned for July submission. EDR Step 2 discussions covered ADDW, DDAW, and DCAS data elements with resolutions agreed at +/-1%, recording intervals for collision scenarios, and outstanding items for June 11 finalization. Future meetings scheduled for June 11, September 8, and October 6-8, 2026.
