Proposal to

1. exempt hybrid vehicles that do not provide valid test results (e.g., internal combustion engine active under test conditions)
2. clarify the text concerning permissible AVAS operating conditions
to differentiate indoor and outdoor facility requirements (e.g., weather station requirement) and
3. update flowcharts in Annex 3 in line with text.

Outlook format (.msg) e-mail file summarizing Canada’s NPRM and responses. It is anticipated that a Canadian proposal will be published in early 2019 to permit the proposed option of compliance to either the US or UN standard.

Proposal to

1. clarify that the speed range of 0-20 km/h applies to UN R138, but does not preclude the AVAS from operating a speeds above 20 km/h (para. 6.2);
2. delete subparagraphs under para. 6.2.6. that should have been removed when the 01 series of amendments prohibited driver-operated pause functions;
3. split the specifications for para. “2.2. Meteorological conditions” under Annex 3 to address indoor and outdoor testing separately for clarity and to avoid unnecessary requirements in each case.
