14. The expert from Germany discussed a public warning issued by the German Type Approval Authority on universal ISOFIX adapters (see informal document GRSP-76-42-Rev.1). Tests of these devices showed that life-threatening injuries were to be expected in the event of an accident. The issued warning states: “Child seats must bear an approval mark. These must only be connected to the vehicle’s tested and approved ISOFIX anchorage points, which is not the case with these products, and could result in significant risk to the child.”. Germany encouraged other contracting parties to follow the same approach. GRSP acknowledged the gravity of the problem and requested the Chair to include this issue in the highlights of his report to WP.29.
