Proposal to clarify the existing text on continued support of an Automatically Commanded Steering Function of Category B1 if the boundary conditions are exceeded. It proposes to clarify that under certain circumstances, e.g. if there are no lane markings present or if the vehicle has already drifted substantially out of the lane such that the lane may no longer be recognized, a continuation of support may no longer be possible or reasonable.

71. GRVA adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2021/8, as amended by GRVA-11-17 (reproduced in Annex III), and requested the secretariat to submit it, as draft supplements for the 02, 03 and 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 79, to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration and vote at their March 2022 sessions.

48. The expert from OICA introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2021/8 as amended by GRVA-09-37 on continued support of ACSF of Category B1 when the boundary conditions are exceeded. The proposal received comments from the experts from France and UK. GRVA agreed to resume consideration of this proposal at its next session.
