Proposal to introduce terminology and new categories of vehicles related to Automated Driving Systems (ADS).

Proposal to prohibit the issuance of certificates by any entity other than the authority that granted the approval under UN R155.

Proposal to enable the use of virtual testing as an alternative to physical testing.

Proposal to update provisions concerning implementation of RxSWIN software identification numbers.

Proposal to introduce an Annex 6 providing guidance on the use of the DETA platform to exchange information of DCAS performance incidents and remedial actions and to remove references to system-initiated manoeuvres (SIM) to reduce risks of misinterpretation of the regulation. The approval of SIM has not yet been proposed by the ADAS task force.

Proposal to introduce an Annex 6 providing guidance on the use of the DETA internet database for the exchange of information on incidents related to DCAS operation between Type Approval Authorities.

TF-AVRS reports progress on adapting GRBP regulations to bring automated vehicles within their scope. Working documents for UN R28, R51, R138, R141, and R165 are planned for GRBP 82 in September 2025, with R64 and R142 following at GRBP 83. The task force, chaired by the Netherlands with OICA secretariat, coordinates with TF-FADS and TF-AVC on definitions, vehicle categories, and ADS requirements. Approval of amended regulations is targeted for WP.29 in June 2026.
