1958 Agreement 1958 Agreement WP.29 Agreements Agreement Concerning the Adoption of Uniform Technical Prescriptions for Wheeled Vehicles, Equipment and Parts which can be Fitted and/or be Used on Wheeled Vehicles and the Conditions for Reciprocal Recognition of Approvals Granted on the Basis of these Prescriptions The 1958 Agreement regulates the functioning of the international system for the recognition of type approvals under UN Regulations. The Agreement specifies how regulations are to be established and how the system operates whereby an approval under a given regulation accorded by one country can be accepted by all other countries applying that regulation. The program to establish an international system for whole vehicles (as opposed to the current focus on individual vehicle components and systems) includes an important restructuring of the 1958 Agreement. Revision 3 of the 1958 Agreement enters into force on 14 September 2017. 1958 Agreement 1958 Agreement United Nations Agreement 1958 Agreement Agreement

UN R133 Vehicle Recyclability Light Vehicle Recyclability UN(ECE) Regulations Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regard to their reusability, recyclability and recoverability Beginning in the 1990's, a number of nations began introducing legislation to regulate the treatment of end-of-life vehicles. These efforts have resulted in regulations and proposals stipulating that vehicles must be "re-usable, recyclable, and/or recoverable" to high degrees. In order to promote uniform regulations related to such vehicle design issues, the World Forum accepted a proposal by the International Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) to establish a new UN Regulation concerning the recyclability of M1 and N1 vehicles. This regulation is unique in that it governs how a manufacturer may obtain a single vehicle-level approval representing compliance across multiple UN Regulations. In other words, UN R0 does not prescribe technical provisions for the evaluation of performance as much as it describes how approvals under UN Regulations may be consolidated into a single approval. WP.29 adopted the initial regulation (international approval superseding some but not all national/regional requirements) during its November 2017 session. A second phase of work is underway to expand the scope of the regulation.
