Proposal to clarify the conditions under which variations of a vehicle can be covered under a single vehicle type without having to apply for a separate approval for another type. The proposal amends certain current provisions that explicitly state that differences will only cause a new type of vehicle if the differences affect the results of the impact test and clarifies the application of this principle across the regulation.

This proposal (WP.29/2023/56) was adopted by the World Forum. Thirty-five Contracting Parties out of the 58 applying UN R153 were present for the vote by AC.1. Thirty-five voted in favor with zero against and zero abstaining.
