Updates to GRPE/2024/10

Proposal to align the impact safety requirements with the latest proposed amendments to UN R46 (GRSG-126-24-Rev.1), to exempt devices approved to UN R26 or R61, and to otherwise clarify and correct the text.

Request for authorisation to develop a new GTR.

Proposal to amend the requirement concerning for the thorax compression criterion (ThCC) of the 5th Female dummy in the case of vehicles of category N₁.

Proposal to add a direct vision case figure for ambinocular vision to avoid misinterpretation of the indirect vision case figure and to modify the impact safety requirements for FLVCS and Detection system for consistency with CMS requirements of UN R46.

Proposal to clarify that the maximum sound pressure requirement at the front plane at standstill condition in reverse shall be equal to the maximum level requirement in motion (defined by the QRTV task force as 75 dB(A) for both standstill and reverse driving).

Proposal to make editorial corrections to WP.29/2024/98.

Proposal to explicitly note objectives behind provisions requiring manufacturers to perform in-service monitoring and reporting (ISMR) for their driver-control assistance systems approved under UN R171 and for UN R171 to be continually reviewed based on technological progress and data collected via ISMR.

During its 75th session, GRSP approved a new UN Regulation on ORS installation based on its decision to split UN R16 into three separate type-approval regulations. Pursuant to discussions on document GRSP/2023/32 (proposal to limit slack of the safety-belt buckle in rear seats), Japan agreed to prepare a new series of amendments for this new UN Regulation on ORS installation.

Proposal from Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and the European Commission to introduce the term and definition of “common space”, provisions for ensuring the confidentiality of intellectual property, and to note exemptions for existing approvals with regard to the provision “to allow egress” in the approval Communication form.

Presentation to support ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRBP/2024/20

Proposal by Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the European Commission to revise requirements on thermal propagation and the approval of electric powered vehicles.

Proposal for amendments to ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2024/40 to make the qualitative criteria in
paragraph 15.2.4.9.2. (new) ambiguous if they are separated from the concept of an
obstruction rate of 10% or less as stipulated in the current regulations.

To improve the effectiveness of LPDs in preventing left- or right-turn collisions, Japan intends to submit the following proposals:
1. Eliminating the exemption for semi-trailer tractors
2. Reducing the lower edge ground clearance of LPDs
3. Clarifying the upper edge structure of LPDs
4. Adding exemption to ensure BSIS requirements

Proposal for amendment to 2024/23, OICA proposal to transpose the content of UN GTR No. 21 into a new UN Regulation of the 1958 Agreement.
