Proposal as adopted by the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) at its 102nd session to update references to international standards and to clarify the provisions on resistance to aging in Regulation No. 67.

Proposal adopted and integrated into UN R67 as Revision 3.

Text adopted by the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) at its 103rd session, clarifying the provisions on the aerostatic pressure during the external leakage test of Class 0 components. It is based on document GRSG/2012/17 as amended during that session.

Proposal as approved by the GRSG:

1) to enable the approval of an OEM engine control unit on a CNG/LNG vehicle during the vehicle type approval process, eliminating the need for a separate type approval of the ECU, and

2) to clarify provisions concerning hose assemblies.

Proposal to introduce type-approval provisions for “valve control at stop-start” into the regulation on LPG equipment. The proposal would allow tank valves stay open in a commanded stop-start phase as is the case for the idling phase of non-stop-start vehicles. These provisions are similar to those for UN R110 on CNG vehicles.

Proposal to

1. introduce new safety provisions with regard to LPG systems having hydraulic interconnections with the petrol or diesel fueling system through which inter-flows of fuels may occur,
2. establish procedures for the approval of non-seamless gas tube(s), gas tube(s) made of materials other than copper, stainless steel, and steel with corrosion-resistant coating, and their couplings in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) vehicles provided they can withstand the applicable tests according to Annex 15, and
3. require marking or other means of approval identification on accessories of the container (multivalve or, when approved separately, pressure relief valve (discharge valve) and pressure relief device).

Proposal to insert type (item 1.1.) and pressure classification (item 1.2.) in the communication form (Annex 2B).

Proposal to define visibility requirements for external gas containers and their accessories to facilitate periodic inspections. From 1 September 2020, Contracting Parties may refuse approvals under the 01 series issued after 1 September 2020.

Proposal to insert type (item 1.1.) and pressure classification (item 1.2.) in the communication form (Annex 2B).

Proposal to insert new provisions on the location on the vehicle of the filling unit, marking of the LPG container date of production, and a limitation on the maximum service life of LPG containers to 15 years.

Proposal to improve the specifications for LPG multi-valves in order to reduce the risks of blockage of the PRV/PRD due to deterioration of the hose connecting the PRV/PRD of the multi-valve to the gaseous phase.

Proposal to introduce the new filling unit profile “J15” as specified in ISO 19825 and to align with the same standard the naming of Euro filling unit.

Proposal to amend the transitional provisions of UN Regulation No. 67 and clarify the validity of type approvals according 01 series of this regulation for components not affected by modifications introduced by 02 series of amendments.

Proposal from GRSG to update vehicle-fuel identification symbols in alignment with ISO 17840-4, Part 4 (Propulsion energy identification) and to extent the scope of the fuel identification requirements to include N₂ and N₃ vehicles.

Proposal from the GRSG task force on Automated Vehicles Regulation Screening to enable application of UN R67 to ADS vehicles. In the absence of a driver/driver’s compartment/manual driving controls in the vehicle, provisions related to them shall not be taken into account if not already covered by this amendment. The proposal clarifies provisions for vehicles with a separate driver’s compartment.
