Proposal to introduce the following into Regulation No. 48:
a) General definition of ‘tell-tale’, as also currently defined in Regulation No. 121;
b) Requirement that the specifications of the tell-tale (location, identification, symbol, illumination and colour) shall meet the relevant requirements of Regulation No. 121;
c) Provision that tell-tales shall always provide an optical signal, thus aligning with Regulation No. 121; however, it is suggested to allow additional signals (auditory or any equivalent signal);
d) New definition of a ‘failure tell-tale’ and stating the mandatory presence of such tell-tale for the daytime running lamp in certain cases;
e) Editorial changes clarifying the situation for a few other cases in Regulation No. 48, where apparently also a ‘failure tell-tale’ was meant.

Proposal to restructure the definitions and requirements associated with the installation of “single lamps”, “lamps marked D” and “interdependent lamps” as proposed by GTB. OICA agrees with the principle, but proposes changes to the placement of the definitions within the rule.

Series of proposals to revise the positioning specifications for direction indicators, marker lamps, and reflectors on trailers (O category) and to make clarifications.

Proposal to extend the proposed amendment to introduce “interdependent lamps” to the 04 and 05 series of amendments to Regulation No. 48.

Proposal to retroactively extend the clarifications to the definitions and requirements associated with the installation of “single lamps”, “lamps marked D” and “interdependent lamps” to the 04 and 05 series amendments to Regulation No. 48.

Proposal to extend to the the 04 and 05 series amendments to Regulation No. 48 the proposed reduction in the minimum speed for activation of E-class passing beams from 70 km/h to 60 km/h and to prescribe clear alternatives to either detect motorway conditions with sensors or only activate the E mode above a speed of 110km/h.

Following discussions with OICA, GTB proposes improvements to the definitions and requirements associated with the installation of “single lamps”, “lamps marked D” and “interdependent lamps”.

OICA comments on the Dutch proposal to revise definitions and specifications concerning “operating” and “failure” tell-tales under UN R48.

Proposal to expand the tolerances proposed for the initial aiming of dipped-beam headlamps in order to encompass all vehicle configurations and conform to the practical constraints of vehicle mass production.

Status report on the GTB working group establish with SAE to assist NHTSA in the development of test protocols for adaptive driving beam (ADB) headlamps under FMVSS 108.
