Consolidated proposal from the GFV Task Force on Heavy-duty Dual-fuel vehicles for an amendment to Regulation No. 49 in view of type-approving such vehicles.

The proposed amendments are aimed at redefining the class of bi-fuel vehicles to permit the simultaneous use of gas and petrol in gas mode. This submission follows the review by CLEPA members of the draft proposal (GRPE/2012/6).

The current Euro 6 light duty vehicle emission limits for total hydrocarbons (THC)
include the methane fraction as well as non-methane hydrocarbon emissions. When the
Euro 5/6 co-decision proposal was negotiated, an NMHC limit value was added but the
THC limit was unchanged and is too restrictive.

Documents GRPE/2012/6 and 7 introduce the calculation of NG/biomethane energy ratio during a type I cycle by weighing the NG/biomethane mass consumed. The formulas are affected by an error when G25 reference fuel is used. This proposal precribes a modification to the previous formulas.
