OICA comments on the original proposal (GRSG/2019/11) regarding interpretation of “contactable parts” and wiper systems. GRSG/2019/11 has been superseded by a revised proposal (GRSG/2019/34) incorporating the OICA comments.

Proposal to introduce a generic drawing to improve interpretation of the regulation, especially with regard to contactable parts (sphere protocol). The proposal aims to clarify how to deal with potentially “exempted” parts and which requirements apply to which part of the windscreen wiper. Given the implications for approvals, the proposal is presented as a new series of amendments with transitional provisions starting 24 months after entry into force.
