Proposal to amend para. 2.5. to change “a potential” to “an imminent” forward collision, insert new paras. 2.48. and 2.49. defining “Non-volatile memory” and “Volatile memory” respectively, and amend para. 5.3.1.2. to permit the EDR to write captured data from Last Stop trigger threshold criterion (a) in volatile memory only, with transfer to non-volatile memory upon occurrence of any other trigger of para. 5.3.1. or deactivation of vehicle master control switch, effective upon entry into force of Supplement 2 to UN R169.

GRSG | Session 131 | 13-17 Apr

31. The expert from the Kingdom of the Netherlands on behalf of IWG on Event Data Recorder/Data Storage System for Automated Driving (EDR/DSSAD) introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2026/21, to clarity for approval of vehicle types with a maximum mass between 8,000 and 12,000 kg.. GRSG adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2026/21, not amended. The secretariat was requested to submit ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2026/21 as draft Supplement 2 to the original version of UN Regulation No. 169 for consideration and vote at the November 2026 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1.
32. The expert from the Kingdom of the Netherlands presented GRSG-131-07, aligned with the Step 2 workstream, and announced that it would be further developed by the IWG. He also invited comments to support the preparation of an official proposal for the October 2026 GRSG session.
