Draft agenda for the nineteenth meeting of the Task Force Data Analysis, a subgroup to IWG RD-ASEP, scheduled for 2 November 2026. Minutes of a PMP hybrid session held 12 October 2026 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Discussion covered amendments to GTR 24 and UN R179 on heavy-duty brake emissions, including new limits for 2030, C-factor measurements, driving modes, brake functions, emission factor calculations, and compliance and conformity of production procedures. Topics included measurement setup, payload factor, test inertia determination methods, inter-laboratory study status with data from 5 labs, and removal of square brackets from GTR text. The group reviewed brake particle emission work from Phase 2 of the DfT programme and preliminary results from a calibration materials inter-laboratory exercise involving 8 labs, recommending continued use of emery oil for annual validation at 23 nm.
Meeting minutes documenting PMP discussions on amendments to Brakes GTR 24 and UN R179, including TF3a layout and testing topics, TF3b vehicles limited speed work, TF3c brake replacement parts with a new UNR to be introduced, and TF4 electromechanical brakes with no further progress. GTR and UNR informal documents on HD brakes were presented with trailers removed from scope, open points on PM Emission Factor units, caliper position, test input parameters, and cooling air flow value addressed, and a 3-month delay in round robin testing reported.
General guidance for drafting the baseline document on artificial intelligence in the automotive sector. The document emphasizes focusing revision on green text in AI-11-03, using change requests for substantive modifications processed during IWG plenary sessions, and integrating successful requests into a single master document. Four sections are addressed: Introduction (AAPC lead) to clarify purpose and scope; AI Uses & Benefits (OICA/CLEPA lead) to provide intuitive understanding and define terms; Risks (modifications by change request); and Risk Management (China and EME leads) to clarify operationalization in certification regimes while maintaining agreement-neutral, conceptual language at reference document level, avoiding prescriptive guidance.
Agenda for the 16th session of IG-ASEP scheduled for 14-15 October 2026 as a virtual meeting. The session will include welcome remarks, introduction of participants, adoption of the draft agenda, review of minutes from the 15th session, review of Terms of Reference from GRBP 84th Session, and discussion of UN R51 matters including reports from the Data Analysis Task Force, review of the issues list, review of draft text R51.04, review of report to GRBP, and status report on RD-ASEP Alternatives. The next meeting is scheduled for 2 February 2027 in Geneva.
Agenda for the kick-off meeting of the Task Force on Exchange of Scenario-Related Information (ESRI), to be held by web conference on 17 December 2026. The meeting will cover welcome and opening remarks, adoption of the agenda, presentation of the rationale and Terms of Reference adopted by the 26th GRVA, discussion of work perspectives and timeline for 2027 including expected achievements and key deliverables, and invitations for presentations and feedback from Contracting Parties and non-governmental organizations on their contributions and ongoing work on scenarios.
Report of the 11th session of the IWG on AI held on 2 September 2026 online. The session discussed the status of the draft reference document, with the USA formally objecting to the refresh plan (AI-11-03, AI-10-04) and insisting that AI-09-06/Rev.3 presented to WP.29 was the only valid baseline document. The co-chairs and majority of experts, including the UK, Germany, France, Canada, the Netherlands, EU Commission, OICA/CLEPA, and SAE, supported using AI-11-03 as the baseline. The group decided to establish two small drafting groups to address green text in sections 2 and 4, with changes submitted through change request forms for review during plenary sessions.
