Summary | The current draft GTR refers to the ISO 15031-3 16-pin connector which was developed for road vehicles (e.g., cars). ISO15031-3 is not suitable for use in all motorcycles/mopeds since such connectors need to satisfy specific requirements such as watertightness and smaller size. ISO SC38/WG4 recently adopted ISO DIS 19689 for an OBD connector that satisifies needs for watertightness, size (6 pins), optimized contacts, accessibility and chemical resistance. Publication of ISO 19689 is expected in April 2016. IMMA thus proposes to make reference to this ‘PTW specific’ connector standard. | ||||||||
