Series of Amendments, Supplements, and Corrigenda

Proposal as adopted by the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) at its 102nd session for amendments intended to prevent road accidents due to the inability of drivers of vehicles with an extremely high eye point to view small vehicles (e.g. motorcycles) in front.

Proposal unanimously adopted.

Proposal to modify UN R125 in line with the amendment to UN R46 (indirect vision) that introduces the use of camera-monitor systems (CMS) in place of rear-view mirrors. This proposal also ends the temporary exemption permitting CMS device obstruction of driver field of view from 1 September 2021.

Proposal to extend the scope of UN R125 to include category N₁ vehicles.

Proposal to extend specifications for defrosting/demisting conductors outside zone A where applicable.

Proposal from GRSG to introduce provisions for Field of Vision Assistants.

Proposal to:

• Correct a reference to area “S” in para. 5.1.3.4.1.
• Clarification in para. 5.1.3.5. that the requirements shall apply above and on the sides of area S
• In Annex 5: addition to the list of possible information displayed by the field of view assistant (FVA), including marking, lines and edges to assist the adjustment procedure of the FVA system.

Proposal from the GRSG to align the scope of the 02 series of amendments with the 01 series of amendments.

Proposal to clarify the switch-off provisions of an FVA system in case of a backing event.

Proposal in the framework of the process of splitting the UN R125 into two separate UN Regulations and a new UN Regulation concerning Field of Vision Assistants. This proposal includes updates of references to the three-dimensional H-point (3-D “H”-point) measurement and calibration procedure (per the update and transfer of the device specification from the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3) to Mutual Resolution No. 1 (M.R.1).

Proposal to amend UN R125 pursuant to the establishment of a new UN Regulation on Field of Vision Assistant. This document includes the update to the references to the three-dimensional H-point (3-D “H”-point) measurement and calibration procedure pursuant to the updates and transfer of relevant provisions from the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3) to Mutual Resolution No. 1 (M.R.1).
