UN Regulation No. 79 (Steering equipment)

GRVA agreed to resume consideration of a proposal for amendments to UN Regulation No. 79, tabled by the expert from Australia, intended to facilitate a consistent approach across all Contracting Parties for Emergency Lane Keeping Systems (ELKS) covering vehicles of categories M1 and N1.

GRVA agreed to resume consideration of the proposals tabled by the experts from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, introducing a technology neutral wording on the conditions for re-instatement of the system at the “initiation of each engine start / run cycle”, as well as the original OICA proposal.

GRVA may wish to be briefed on the outcome of an industry workshop on steer-by-wire. GRVA agreed to resume the consideration of an amendment proposal to UN Regulation No. 79 aimed to clarify the provisions for full power steering systems such as steer-by-wire systems.

GRVA may wish to consider any other amendment proposal to UN Regulation No. 79, if available.
