3. Child Restraint Systems for Buses and Coaches Child Restraint Systems for Buses and Coaches To be determined. This issue is currently under discussion within GRSP.
In 2008, Spain proposed the development of a UNECE Regulation to govern the installation and use of child restraint systems in M2 and M3 category vehicles (buses and coaches).

The installation and use of seat belts in such vehicles is mandatory in Europe under Directive 2003/20/EC. However, this directive and the related UNECE Regulations only concern adults.

Adult safety belts are not appropriate to restrain minors with a lower height than 135 cm and a lower weight than 36 Kg. Therefore, the use of safety belts for minors is not required under current regulations.

Moreover, UNECE R44 on child restraint systems focuses on M1 vehicles and therefore fails to address child safety on buses.
Bus and Coach CRS Child Restraint Systems for Buses and Coaches WP.29 Discussion Topic Child Restraint Systems for Buses and Coaches
4. Commercial Vehicle Direct Vision Commercial Vehicle Direct Vision This discussion addresses efforts, such as those undertaken by the London Department for Transport, to establish direct vision standards requiring a larger and lower field of vision for drivers of heavy goods vehicles. The intention is to improve the safety of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. London has established a Direct Vision Standard, using a star system, to rate heavy vehicles over 12 tonnes from 0 (lowest) to 5 (highest), based upon how much a HGV driver can see directly through the cab windows. London has also proposed a "Heavy Goods Vehicle Safety Permit" which, if approved, would require all HGVs over 12 tonnes entering or operating in Greater London to hold a safety permit from 26 October 2020. 9. Environmentally Friendly Vehicles Environmentally Friendly Vehicles Not applicable. This item is part of a broad effort to address the "environmental friendliness" of motor vehicles from a "well-to-wheels" perspective. An "Environmentally Friendly Vehicles Conference" was every two years within the general framework of WP.29. Conferences were held in Tokyo (2003), Birmingham (2005), Dresden (2007), New Delhi (2009), and Baltimore(2011) before WP.29 and the EFV informal working group ended completed this effort.
EFV Environmentally Friendly Vehicles WP.29 Discussion Topic Environmentally Friendly Vehicles

11. Marking Provisions of Global Technical Regulations Marking Provisions of Global Technical Regulations None. The World Forum has engaged in an exchange of views over the possibility of establishing a common system of product markings (mainly within the context of lighting products and tires) through the GTR process. At the November 2010 session, the Forum decided to set this item in abeyance for 2011 unless a new reason appears to reopen the discussion. At the same time, the Forum's DETA group (which is pursuing a data exchange system for type approval information) wishes to keep open the possibility for eventually including information from non-type-approval (e.g., self-certification) nations.
