UN R48: Proposal for Supplement 21 to the 06 series of amendments

Proposal to:
Align UN R48 with updated requirements in UN R149 with regard to light sources and total objective luminous flux
Replace the term “LED module” with “Light source module”
Modify wording to adapt to the introduction of “matched pair” requirements for headlamps and
AFS
Align the requirements for off-road vehicles passing-beam vertical inclination across UN R48 series
Allow the projection of a pattern for predicted trajectory
Amend failure detection and signalisation requirements to reflect technological progress in multiple light sources.

This proposal (WP.29/2025/33) was adopted by the World Forum. Thirty-four Contracting Parties out of the 52 applying UN R48 were present for the vote by AC.1. Thirty-four voted in favor with zero against and zero abstaining.
