The Chairman of SGR0 explained the paper “Progress towards an International Whole Vehicle Type Approval Scheme” (doc.No. WP.29-161-17) to be submitted to WP.29 in the following week.

Progress report from the expert group working on the IWVTA regulation providing on overview of the proposed whole vehicle regulation, issues for attention of the World Forum, and consideration of future development.
The Russian Federation asked about the permanent working group to oversee UN R0 mentioned in the paper from the viewpoints of its organization (new or existing one) and budgetary background. The Chairman of SGR0 responded that it would be necessary to consider the issues by the Sub-group.

Progress report from the expert group working on the IWVTA regulation providing on overview of the proposed whole vehicle regulation, issues for attention of the World Forum, and consideration of future development.
Germany reminded the Sub-group members of its proposal submitted to the 9th IWVTA Informal Group meeting back in March 2012 to establish a permanent group for the IWVTA process (refer to doc.No. IWVTA-09-06). Germany continued that establishing a permanent informal group linked to WP.29 and AC1 might be a practical approach and that it had an intention to submit a document on this issue at the next Sub-group meeting.

At the 7th IWVTA group meeting, Germany suggested the creation of a permanent group to guide the IWVTA process after the adoption of UN R0. The group would manage the procedure, ensure a certain level of quality of IWVTA approvals and be an open platform for exchange of information.
EC recommended attaching a hyperlink to doc .No. IWVTA-SGR0-08-13 (the latest version of draft UN R0) at the last slide of this paper.

6. | Consider work schedule for IWVTA Informal Group in 2014 |
The Chairman of SG58 explained that the work schedule on the next steps for the review of revision 3 of the 1958 Agreement was already illustrated in slide 5 and 6 of doc.No.WP.29-161-16. It was agreed that the work schedule for IWVTA Informal Group in 2014 would be discussed at the next Sub-group meetings. It was agreed that the next Sub-group meetings will be held on 21-23 January 2014 in Sendai, Japan.
