The requirement that “every driver shall at all times be able to control his vehicle” has recently given rise to discussions regarding the compatibility of the Convention with modern driver assistance systems. This proposal offers language to set parameters for the use of automated systems.

WP.1 document, prepared by Belgium, France, Italy, Sweden, and the United States transmitted to WP.29 by Germany, proposing revisions to the Vienna Convention in order to address the rise in automated driver assistance systems.
