14. The expert from CLEPA introduced GRSG-131-16, to show the amendments proposed to the UN Regulation. The expert from CLEPA encouraged comments to the document prior to the deadline for submission of official documents to the October 2026 session of GRSG.

The expert from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland introduced document GRSG 131 10, proposing to extend the scope of UN Regulation No. 158 to category O vehicles, with the aim of addressing reversing risks to vulnerable road users, ensuring equal regulatory flexibility for Contracting Parties, responding to coroner safety recommendations, and providing greater regulatory clarity for manufacturers. The expert from CLCCR recalled that, at its October 2025 session, the VRU Proxi Informal Working Group had concluded that no further action was required on this issue. The expert from France suggested that the matter be further examined on the basis of additional data and analysis. The experts from Germany, Sweden and OICA recommended that accident data be assessed prior to any decision. The expert from the Republic of Korea informed GRSG that the devices prescribed in the Regulation were mandatory for all vehicle categories. The expert from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland took note of the comments received, invited experts to share any additional relevant data, and indicated that a revised proposal would be submitted to the October 2026 session of GRSG.
