Engine fire suppression: Proposal for a new UN Regulation

Proposal for a new UN Regulation on the type approval of vehicles and systems with regard to fire suppression systems designed to reduce the risk of Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosions (BLEVE) to support the fitment of such systems to vehicles transporting dangerous goods (ADR vehicles). Japan abstained from the vote to adopt.

72. The secretary of GRSG presented draft new UN Regulation No. [181] on Engine Fire Suppression Systems (WP.29/2026/38) to improve safety of vehicles carrying dangerous goods equipped with internal combustion engines, draft new UN Regulation No. [182] on Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning system (WP.29/2026/39) to reduced fatigue related crashes and new UN Regulation No. [183] on Advanced Driver Distraction Warning system (WP.29/2026/40) to reduce accidents related to driver distraction.

73. The World Forum considered the above draft UN Regulations under agenda items 4.13.3. to 4.13.5. and recommended their submission to AC.1 for voting.
