WP.29 | Session 196 | 23-27 Jun 2025

64. The Chair of GRVA presented, on behalf of the Chair of the IWG on the Database for the Exchange of Type Approval documentation (DETA), the outcome of the fifty-third IWG on DETA session (WP.29-196-16) held in Brussels on 19 June 2025. He also presented WP.29-196-17, containing a proposal for amendments to the WP.29 Bluebook. He consulted WP.29 on the request from Colombia, which was in the process of acceding to the 1958 Agreement, to receive access to DETA. Following the secretariat’s recommendation, WP.29 recommended that the Chair of the IWG on DETA should invite Colombia to send a request to WP.29, as the access to DETA was in the purview of WP.29 only.

65. The representative of Austria pointed out that, in some instances, DETA contained incomplete information on type approvals and urged all Contracting Parties to the 1958 Agreement to properly populate DETA with the approvals they had granted. He also stressed the importance of the DETA information for low- and middle-income countries. The Chair of GRVA mentioned that DETA included a mass-upload functionality, easing the process of importing type approval documents.

66. The World Forum thanked Germany for continuing to host DETA
