During the consultations, the Chair of the IWG on Event Data Recorder / Data Storage System for Automated Driving (EDR/DSSAD) reported on the progress made by the group and presented the DSSAD guidance document. The participants discussed ways to incorporate DSSAD provisions in the new draft ADS regulations.

20. GRVA endorsed the status report (GRVA-22-24) about the activities and deliverables of the IWG on Event Data Recorder / Data Storage System for Automated Driving (EDR/DSSAD).

21. GRVA agreed to transmit the guidance document on DSSAD (GRVA-22-23) to WP.29 (June 2025 session) for endorsement as foundational document for further developments.

16. The representative of Japan, Co-Chair of IWG on Event Data Recorder and Data Storage System for Automated Driving (EDR/DSSAD), recalled the group’s mandate and work plan, and provided an update on the progress achieved (GRVA-23-10).

17. The representative of OICA noted that discussions included inserting additional data elements in the DSSAD document, which could delay the adoption of the ADS regulations. The delegations discussed the need to consider privacy and data security in a balanced manner during these activities and explored the possibility of developing a revision to the DSSAD document to manage timing considerations.
